Former England captain Close dies aged 84

Former England captain Brian Close has died at the age of 84.

Known for his courage and tenacity at the crease and on the field, particularly at forward short-leg, Close was picked to play for England against New Zealand in 1949, when he was only 18. He went on to play another 21 Tests for England, the last one against West Indies at the Old Trafford in 1976.
