Amid media reports that he may be denied a ticket for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, RJD MLA Dinesh Kumar Singh today sat on dharna in front of party office here and threatened to commit suicide.
Singh, MLA from Jagdishpur in Bhojpur district, sat on dharna carrying a placard which urged RJD President Lalu Prasad to clarify if the reports doing rounds were true, and if so the reason for it.
"I am only requesting Lalu Prasad to clear the air about me," he told PTI.
He said if he failed to get a satisfactory answer he would start fast unto death tomorrow and commit suicide in front of the party office on Sunday.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has tweeted "Mahagathbandhan has finalized the list of seats each party would be contesting. The formal list will be issued on 19th September." Singh hails from Yadav caste and has been very active on farmers issue in the state assembly. Though there was no official word about him, but media reports suggest his past proximity with Janadhikar Party leader and Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav could mar his chance to get a ticket this time.
Singh, however, denied meeting Pappu Yadav after he was expelled from RJD or indulging in any kind of anti-party activities.
"Many leaders used to meet Pappu Yadav when he was in RJD. Show me any of my statement in his favour after he was expelled from the party or any activity against the party," he added.
Anticipating trouble from party leaders over ticket, RJD President Lalu Prasad had yesterday appealed to party leaders and workers to be prepared for making sacrifices in view of a big task of defeating BJP and RSS.
He had told mediapersons after RJD central parliamentary board meeting here yesterday that "Its not a free time like in ern (RJD election symbol) fought on all 243 seats. In the changed context of this elections, the party has got 100 seats on which we have to select candidates."
